    Billy Ryckman, one of only a handful of football players to be born and raised in Lafayette and go onto living out his childhood dream of playing professional football. Certainly he was one of the first to do so.

    Billy played high school ball for the Lafayette Mighty Lions as a small but slow WR. After college, Louisiana Tech, he was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons where he played for them in the late 70's and early 80's. Here is where his love for the game and his ability to catch a football best proved that heart and desire, can help achieve one's dreams over having the best athletic abilities. His last year of football was in the new USFL, a new Pro league in 1983, with the Arizona Wranglers, where he first met Ragin Cajun head coach Rickey Bustle, Rickey was a young RB coach at this time.

    Billy moved back to Lafayette to raise his 2 young kids in the 90's and began his broadcasting career in 1999.
